The Trustees are pleased to report a grant award to Target Ovarian Cancer.
Over 7,400 people receive a life changing diagnosis of ovarian cancer in the UK each year, and more people die because of the disease than all other gynaecological cancers combined. At Target Ovarian Cancer they cannot accept that for so many people ovarian cancer is fatal and that so many families are left bereft. They are determined to transform what happens before and after diagnosis and ensure that every person receives the support they need.
Their confidential nurse-led Support Line enables anyone affected by ovarian cancer to talk through queries they may have as well as their feelings about their situation. They offer follow-up contact as women and their families go through their cancer journey, helping to reduce their isolation and supporting them to manage their changed situation
The grant will be used towards the costs of a nurse advisor for women across the York area.
